Your account and your work

We use your name, email address, sign-in information and profile to manage your account. Saved tool content lets you return to your work. Sessions may include your IP address and browser information. Academic-access requests include your institution and university email address.

Optional analytics and marketing

Cloudflare Zaraz manages tags and consent choices. You can choose the following purposes separately:

Analytics: Google Analytics measures visits and interactions to help us understand which resources are useful and improve the site.
Marketing: with your separate consent, LinkedIn and Google Ads tags, together with Google Analytics advertising features, may be used to measure campaign results, create audiences and personalize advertising.

Depending on the tools enabled and your choices, Google and LinkedIn may receive information about pages viewed, interactions, your device and online identifiers. Optional tags require consent for the corresponding purpose. You can accept, refuse or change your choices through “Privacy choices” at the bottom of the page. Resources remain available regardless of your choice.

Browser storage

Session cookies keep you signed in. Your language choice is remembered for one year. Your browser also stores some preferences and your consent choices. You can manage this data in your browser settings. Work saved in your account is stored on our servers and remains available when you sign in again.

Service providers

DigitalOcean hosts the site and Cloudflare provides content delivery, network protection and tag management. Brevo delivers account messages and marketing emails you choose to receive; you can change that choice in your profile. These providers, along with Google and LinkedIn for the purposes you accept, may process information outside your province or country under their service arrangements and applicable laws.

Account integrations

You can choose Google sign-in. Connecting your own Google Analytics property is a separate, read-only authorization to use its data in the tools. Its tokens are encrypted and retained until disconnection or account deletion. When you open “Comments”, the self-hosted Quackback service receives your account identity and stores your feedback separately.

Retention and deletion

Daily account-activity summaries are retained for up to 90 days. Your profile lets you export your data and delete your account. Deletion removes application data, requests revocation of Google Analytics access and removes your subscriptions to the site’s marketing lists. For Quackback feedback, request an export or deletion at the contact address above; those requests receive separate follow-up. Copies may remain in backups until they are rotated. Analytics and marketing data are retained according to the relevant service settings; contact the privacy officer for the periods applicable to your request.

Your rights

You can ask how your information is used and retained, request access or correction, and ask for deletion. The privacy officer will explain any applicable retention obligations. You can also contact the Québec Access to Information Commission.
